Burlington singer-songwriter Lily Seabird has shared a new song, "The Afterglow," a mellow acoustic return after leaning into louder territory on recent singles from her forthcoming record. The track was partly inspired by the death of folk legend Michael Hurley and reflects on loss and transition, themes Seabird says came together through a personal experience involving a car crashing into her yard.

The song accompanies a music video filmed with collaborator tes galucci, whom Seabird met while she was juggling downtown; the pins reminded Seabird of "lightspheres" that had inspired the wider project. It was shot in the same neighbourhood as an earlier video and centres on galucci walking the streets. "The Afterglow" features on Seabird's album Lightspheres On Their Way, due out physically on 4 September 2026 and digitally on 2 October 2026 via Lame-O Records.
