Lime’s UK business more than doubled its annual profits in 2025 as a sharp rise in riders and fleet expansion boosted revenue. Average monthly users increased by 31% to nearly 700,000, while the company expanded into additional English cities, highlighting growing demand for rental electric bikes and scooters.

Sales rose by a third to £148m and profits climbed from £1.7m to £4.7m. Lime added more than 4,500 vehicles, taking its English fleet to almost 38,000, but employed only 54 people because it relies heavily on self-employed contractors. The expansion has coincided with concerns over pedestrian safety, injuries, defective bikes and pavements obstructed by poorly parked vehicles; London boroughs have seized at least 3,000 rental ebikes this year, including 2,000 Lime bikes.
