Lionsgate Posts Sharply Higher Revenue Powered by Library IP
Lionsgate reported a sharp rise in second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue and a much narrower loss, with its film and television library providing a major source of income. The results matter as the studio faces renewed takeover speculation and seeks to expand how it earns from its established franchises and other titles.
Revenue rose 41 per cent to $668.8 million, above analysts’ $627.6 million estimate, while the net loss attributable to shareholders fell to $15.5 million from $113.5 million a year earlier. The 20,000-title library generated $1.04 billion over the trailing 12 months, its second-highest quarterly watermark; Lionsgate cited titles including Hunger Games, Heartland and Kill Bill. CEO Jon Feltheimer declined to comment on takeover speculation, but said the studio was well positioned in a consolidating industry.
