LoneLady Confirms ‘Hinterland Home Recordings’
LoneLady, whose real name is Julie Campbell, will release *Hinterland Home Recordings*, a collection of early recordings connected to her 2015 album *Hinterland*, on 29 January. The tapes show how she developed the album’s blend of post-punk, homemade electronics and pop melodies, and offer a view of her creative process.
Campbell recorded at home in a Manchester tower block using basic equipment, including an eight-track recorder, guitars, a keyboard, a cello and GarageBand. She says she built up and meticulously worked on each song, experimenting with mixing and production without outside input. The release is due through Warp Records and includes an early version of “Groove It Out”.
