A lorry driver has been arrested after a three-vehicle collision on the M18 near Doncaster left two people with life-threatening injuries. The incident has prompted a police investigation into suspected drug-driving and dangerous driving causing serious injury.

The crash involved a DAF lorry, an MG car and a Ford Kuga on the southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 at about 17:35 BST on Wednesday. A 68-year-old man and 64-year-old woman in the MG were taken to hospital, while the Ford driver, 56, had minor injuries; the 46-year-old HGV driver was arrested and the motorway reopened at about 01:00 BST on Thursday.
