Los Angeles TV writer sues popular network over terrifying claims about knife-toting colleague
Former FX writer Diara Bradley has sued the Disney-owned network, alleging disability discrimination, unsafe working conditions and unpaid wages. She says she was dismissed after seeking medical accommodations and raising concerns, including an alleged incident in which an overworked colleague brought a knife to work.
Bradley filed the lawsuit on 30 September in Santa Monica Superior Court. She says she worked as an associate writer and producer from August 2021 until her termination in June, worked 50 to 60 hours a week without proper pay or meal breaks, and was not accommodated for chronic migraines and back pain. The claims have not been tested in court; FX was contacted for comment.

Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
If Bradley’s account is substantiated, the network had a duty to provide reasonable medical accommodations, pay for all hours worked and address credible safety concerns. A dismissal following requests for accommodation or reports of unsafe conditions could suggest that those responsibilities were not met.
The case against
The allegations have not been tested in court, and the network may dispute Bradley’s account or offer a different explanation for her dismissal and working conditions. Assessing the claims fairly requires evidence about her duties, hours, accommodation requests, the reported incident and the employer’s response, while recognising that workplace rules can involve practical constraints and competing accounts.
