French actor and director Louis Garrel is presenting Nanni Moretti's "It Will Happen Tonight" at the Venice Film Festival, where the romantic drama is competing for the Golden Lion. Garrel plays Matteo opposite Italian star Jasmine Trinca's Greta in what marks his first collaboration with Moretti and his first-ever role performed in Italian, following his international breakthrough in Bertolucci's "The Dreamers" and recent turns in "The Three Musketeers" and "Couture" alongside Angelina Jolie.

In an interview with Variety, Garrel described a long friendship with Moretti that began through the director's Sacher Cinema in Rome, culminating in a spontaneous phone call asking him to audition alongside Trinca, who previously worked with Moretti on "The Son's Room" and "The Caiman". Garrel discussed Moretti's meticulous directing style, focused on rhythm and tone rather than character psychology, and said the film's chemistry and elevated "soap opera" quality reminded him of Pedro Almodóvar's work.
