Love Island VIP star is convicted of raping contestant he was paired with on German TV show
Yasin Mohamed, 35, was convicted by a Munich court of raping Sophie Imelmann, 30, while they were filming the finale of the German dating show Love Island VIP in Greece in July 2024. The court found he continued to have sex with her after she had made clear she did not consent, underlining that agreeing to other intimate contact did not mean agreeing to intercourse.
Mohamed received a suspended prison sentence of one year and eight months, 200 hours of community service and three years’ probation; he is appealing. Prosecutors had sought a sentence of two years and eight months. Mohamed denied the allegation, and his defence argued he believed the encounter was consensual, but the judge said the court accepted Imelmann’s account.
