Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol contestant now working as a pastor, is on trial in Ohio for the alleged murder of his wife Ashley during a shooting in February. During Monday's court proceedings, prosecutors presented evidence undermining Flynn's claim that an intruder killed his wife, whilst Flynn displayed extreme emotional distress and physical tics including bulging neck veins and sudden outbursts of tears. The case has drawn attention for the dramatic courtroom scenes as the prosecution builds its case against Flynn, who has pleaded not guilty.

The evidence presented included details that contradicted Flynn's intruder theory, namely that whilst the garage door handle was broken, there was no evidence anyone had attempted to pry it open to gain entry. Prosecutors allege that Flynn's 9mm handgun, normally kept in his car, was missing following the shooting. Additionally, the court was told that Flynn had conducted a prolonged affair with an unidentified woman, exchanging over 100,000 messages with her, including texts expressing a desire to kill his wife. His two young daughters were asleep in their bunk beds when their mother was shot dead.
