Lucy Dacus on Closing Out the ‘Forever Is a Feeling’ Chapter, Finding Fandom Boundaries and What’s Next

The Hollywood Reporter · 3 hours ago

Singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus is closing out the touring cycle for her album *Forever Is a Feeling* with a special orchestral performance at the Hollywood Bowl. The 31-year-old, speaking to The Hollywood Reporter from Nashville, described the show as a deliberate ritual to mark the end of a significant chapter, saying she needs "some degree of ritual or marking of milestones" to process transitions properly. After nearly two years on the road, she plans to follow the concert with an extended break, telling the outlet she wants to experience "what it feels like to not do anything for the first time in many years."

Sunday's performance will feature Dacus backed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, with arrangements crafted by her violinist, Phoenix Ruziamani, who reviewed her entire back catalogue to select tracks suited to orchestral treatment, including unreleased song "Kissing Lessons." Dacus also chose some songs to honour friends and family attending the show, and reflected on how revisiting older material with an audience who knows her personal history can feel both sentimental and emotionally overwhelming. She described the process of reviewing her discography as a humbling, retrospective exercise that has left her inspired for future creative work, whether through journaling or returning to walk familiar streets in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
