Luke Skywalker and Captain America Will Officially Join Forces in New Star Wars-Marvel Crossover

Polygon · 2 hours ago

Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm are launching Hope Assembles, the first official crossover between the Star Wars and Marvel universes, bringing Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia and other characters from the original trilogy into direct contact with Captain America, Wolverine, Black Widow and other Marvel heroes. The five-issue limited series, written by Kevin Smith with art by David Marquez, forms part of a broader wave of major projects across both franchises as Star Wars approaches its 50th anniversary in 2027 and Marvel builds towards Avengers: Doomsday.

The story places the classic A New Hope-era cast into Earth-616, Marvel's main comics continuity, after "a reality-shattering spell" causes Earth's heroes to witness the events of A New Hope unfold before them. Pairings include Han Solo and Chewbacca meeting Wolverine and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Leia alongside Black Widow and Black Panther, and Obi-Wan Kenobi encountering Deadpool, Daredevil, Hawkeye and the Human Torch, while villains Darth Vader, Doctor Doom, Thanos and Ultron also share the page. The first issue is due in January 2027, and Smith, who has followed Marvel's Star Wars comics since the early 1980s, described it as a long-held ambition finally realised.
