Lululemon backs nylon recycling startup Syntetica in $30M Series A

TechCrunch · 1 month ago

French recycling startup Syntetica has completed a $30 million Series A funding round with support from premium activewear brand Lululemon and other fashion companies. The company specialises in processing mixed nylon waste streams that are otherwise difficult to separate, helping address the substantial volume of clothing that ends up as landfill waste.

Rather than producing finished textiles, Syntetica intends to supply recycled nylon pellets to manufacturers within the existing supply chain. The company's founding team combines business and chemistry expertise, and it emphasises cost-parity with virgin materials as essential for scaling sustainable solutions. Recent volatility in petrochemical-based nylon pricing has accelerated interest from major brands in diversifying their material sourcing, whilst supportive regulatory environments have further encouraged investment in circular economy initiatives.
