Lupin: Part 4 Review

IGN ·

Lupin: Part 4 returns after a three-year gap with a brisk eight-episode season that resets parts of the story and embraces the heist series’ soap-opera melodrama. Assane Diop’s prison cliffhanger is brushed aside as the plot shifts to new crimes that put him under suspicion and force him to prove his innocence.

The season gives Assane’s estranged teenage son Raoul a more central emotional role, while a conspiracy involving a copycat, a secret society and a search for treasure drives the twists. Former enemies become uneasy partners, police frenemy Youssef pursues Assane, and personal entanglements complicate the investigation; the review says the story sometimes spins its wheels but ends up delivering the series’ deliberately outlandish pleasures.

In short

  • Lupin returns with a melodramatic eight-episode season.
  • New heists make Assane a suspect.
  • Raoul’s strained relationship with his father gains focus.
