Macklemore calls for “free Palestine” and condemns ICE at first show since Ed Sheeran saga
Macklemore called for a “free Palestine” and condemned US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during his first concert since being removed from Ed Sheeran’s North American tour. He also voiced support for people affected by conflict and hardship in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon and Haiti, saying the message was love.
At Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on 22 October, Macklemore performed a 17-song set and reiterated views that had prompted his removal from Sheeran’s tour. He has since announced sold-out benefit shows in the UK and Europe, and pledged his $1 million tour earnings to six organisations supporting Palestinians. Sheeran later apologised for how he handled the dispute; the article says the planned Gillette Stadium concerts were subsequently cancelled because of severe weather warnings.
In short
- Macklemore renewed his calls for a free Palestine at Red Rocks.
