Macron appoints Guillaume Cerutti to head the Château de Versailles
Emmanuel Macron has appointed Guillaume Cerutti to lead the Château de Versailles, filling a vacancy that had lasted eight months. The choice brings an experienced cultural and business executive to one of France’s most prominent heritage institutions, which faces substantial responsibilities for its upkeep and finances.
Cerutti, 60, previously led the Centre Pompidou, Sotheby’s France, Christie’s and, briefly, the Pinault Collection; he also chaired football club Stade Rennais. Versailles welcomed 8.4 million visitors in 2025 and is carrying out a €200 million security and visitor-services programme through 2032. The 2027 budget provides an extra €7 million for investment while reducing operating subsidies by €3 million.
