Madonna Achieves 10th No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘CONFESSIONS II’

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Madonna has secured the 10th No. 1 album of her career on the Billboard 200 as her new studio record, CONFESSIONS II, debuts atop the chart dated 18 July. It is her first chart-topper of the 2020s, making her the first act to reach No. 1 in the 2020s having also led the chart in three previous decades, and only the fourth act to achieve at least 10 No. 1s on both the Billboard 200 and the Hot 100. The album is the sequel to 2005's Confessions on a Dance Floor and reunites her with producer Stuart Price.

The album opened with 134,000 equivalent album units in the week ending 9 July, according to Luminate, her best week by units since the chart shifted to a units-based system in December 2014 and the biggest week for a dance album this year. Of that total, 114,000 were pure album sales — boosted by 15 vinyl variants, four CD editions, a cassette and six digital editions, with vinyl alone accounting for 59,000 copies — while streaming contributed 19,000 units, her largest streaming week ever. Announced on 15 April and released on 3 July, it is her first studio album since 2019's Madame X and was preceded by the Hot 100 single "Bring Your Love" with Sabrina Carpenter.
