Madonna Pays Tribute To Late ‘Ray Of Light’ Producer William Orbit: “Your Music Gave Me A Magic Carpet To Fly On”
Madonna has paid tribute to William Orbit, the producer behind much of her acclaimed 1998 album Ray of Light, following his death aged 69. In an Instagram post, she said their collaboration freed her from conventional musical categories and helped shape a significant new creative chapter in her career.
Orbit died on 23 July, with his family announcing the news this week. He won a Grammy for Ray of Light, which was a multi-platinum release, and worked with artists including U2, Britney Spears, No Doubt and Blur; Madonna’s post included footage from the album’s title-track video and their 1999 Grammy acceptance.
