Mahershala Ali has agreed with Kevin Feige’s description of Marvel’s failure to make the planned Blade reboot as the biggest failure of Feige’s career. Ali said he remains unable to understand why the film did not proceed, given that Marvel had a two-time Oscar-winning actor under contract and substantial financial resources.

Announced in 2019, Blade has faced repeated setbacks, including the departures of directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange and involvement from at least five writers. Feige attributed the delays to Marvel’s previous over-expansion into Disney+ content, while Ali said his interest in the role has remained strong but expressed frustration at repeatedly having to prove himself in the film industry.
