Making Baldur’s Gate 4 would be “a great challenge” for Rogue Trader devs Owlcat, co-founder says, as the studio reiterate their commitment to CRPGs

Owlcat Games, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, has said it would relish the chance to develop Baldur's Gate 4, describing the prospect as "a great challenge" and "a great honour". Co-founder Alexander Mishulin made the comments in interviews marking the studio's tenth anniversary, though there is no indication Hasbro has actually approached Owlcat about the project, and the studio's current workload makes such an undertaking unlikely in the near term.

Owlcat, originally founded in Russia but now based in Cyprus and Armenia, has grown to around 600 staff while working on two major titles: the sci-fi RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn and Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Mishulin stressed that this expansion does not signal a move away from CRPGs, telling PCGamesN the studio remains committed to the genre while experimenting with different approaches. The studio has also faced scrutiny over alleged links to Russia's war in Ukraine, including claims some staff posted racial slurs and conducted recruitment in occupied Crimea, allegations Owlcat has previously responded to.
