AC/DC's Brian Johnson has recounted a boozy misadventure in which he and the late guitarist Malcolm Young attempted to lure the Loch Ness Monster out of hiding using fireworks. Speaking to NME in 2020, Johnson described the escapade as taking place during downtime with their wives on a road trip around Scotland, offering a colourful glimpse into the band's off-stage antics decades into their career. The story has resurfaced as a light-hearted look back at Young, who died in 2017 and remains fondly remembered by fans and bandmates alike.

According to Johnson, the pair had been drinking heavily at a lochside hotel when Young suggested wading into the water with a box of fireworks to try to attract "Nessie", resulting in both men soaked to the knees and covered in mud by the time they returned to their wives. Unlike other real-life incidents that inspired AC/DC songs, such as Whole Lotta Rosie and Bedlam in Belgium, this episode was never turned into a track, though Judas Priest later wrote their own tribute song, Lochness, referencing the mythical creature.
