Malicious ex-wife who made false Facebook claims that her police officer ex-husband is a rapist and baby killer is sent to jail

Daily Mail · 18 hours ago

A woman has been jailed for running a malicious online campaign against her police officer ex-husband, falsely branding him a rapist and baby killer in Facebook posts. Jennifer Pritchard, 47, of Tredegar, South Wales, created a page called "Jen's Justice" to spread fabricated claims about Sergeant Steve Pritchard, prompting a police investigation and causing him significant distress, financial cost and health problems. The judge said she posed a high risk of harm to her ex-husband and his colleagues and rejected her claims of remorse, noting she had previously said she was glad she had done it.

Pritchard admitted malicious communications at Cardiff Crown Court and was jailed for 18 months, alongside an indefinite restraining order barring contact with her ex-husband. The false posts, made over a two-month period, are the second instance of her inventing accusations against him: she was previously jailed for 12 months in 2022 for perverting the course of justice after plotting to have him wrongly convicted of stalking. She has three prior convictions covering seven offences in total.
