A Louisiana man previously accused of a violent motel stabbing is now being sought as a person of interest after four people were found stabbed to death and a child was critically injured in Houma. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet identified 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet as a person of interest in the apparent series of stabbings in the Ashland Drive area, though authorities stressed he has not been arrested or charged over the latest incident. The case is significant both for its scale, four dead and a child seriously hurt, and because the suspect had a prior violent stabbing arrest, raising questions about earlier warning signs.

Deputies were first called to the 200 block of Ashland Drive, where they found the wounded child, who was flown to hospital in critical but stable condition after "extremely significant" injuries, according to police. A search of nearby homes then uncovered at least four dead victims, whose identities and relationship to each other, the child or Solet have not been released. Police say Solet is believed to still be in the area and are pursuing "every investigative tool" to locate him, though he had not been found as of the latest update. He was previously arrested in December 2019 for allegedly stabbing a 59-year-old woman repeatedly and locking her inside a Houma motel room, an attack that left her with life-threatening injuries.
