Man arrested over alleged threats at Perth MP’s office while carrying nunchucks

Daily Mail ·

A man was arrested after allegedly making verbal threats while carrying nunchucks inside state MP Hannah Beazley’s electorate office in Victoria Park, Perth, on Wednesday. The incident has renewed attention on politicians’ safety, following an alleged vehicle attack on federal MP Helen Haines earlier in the week.

Police found a 56-year-old man in nearby Bentley, where he was assisting with inquiries; no one was injured. Beazley said her staff were shaken and that her focus was on their welfare. Haines remained in critical condition after police alleged a man deliberately drove into her outside her office in northern Victoria; both her legs were amputated.
