Man faces firearms charges over air rifle shooting

A man has been charged with violence and firearms offences after a woman was shot with an air rifle in Thurnscoe, Barnsley. Police were called to Windsor Street at 21:50 BST on Tuesday following reports of a person with a suspected firearm, and officers found the victim with serious injuries. This is a significant case as it involves a shooting incident that has led to multiple arrests and a hospitalisation, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances.

Brandon Champion, 28, of Windsor Street, has been charged with Section 18 assault, and with possessing an air weapon and ammunition while prohibited from doing so for five years. The injured woman was taken to hospital and remains in a stable condition. A 26-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have both been bailed.
