Man Utd’s George closing in on Brighton move

BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Manchester United defender Gabby George is closing in on a move to Brighton ahead of the new Women's Super League season, in a deal reportedly worth a six-figure fee. The 29-year-old is seeking regular first-team football, and the transfer would bolster Brighton's squad as they continue an ambitious summer rebuilding effort.

George, who has a year left on her United contract after the club triggered an option clause in January, joined from Everton in 2023 and has made more than 50 appearances, including in United's 2024 Women's FA Cup win. She has three England caps and follows other new arrivals at Brighton, including Switzerland captain Lia Walti and midfielder Emilie Joramo. Brighton, who finished seventh in the WSL last season, begin their new campaign at home to Arsenal on Sunday 6 September, while United are separately searching for a new manager following Marc Skinner's departure by mutual consent.
