A fundraising campaign has been launched for heavy metal journalist Dom Lawson after he suffered a heart attack at Bloodstock Open Air festival in Derbyshire. Lawson, a contributor to Metal Hammer, Prog, The Guardian and Blabbermouth, was taken to hospital and is awaiting surgery; the appeal aims to support him while he is unable to work.

The GoFundMe was set up by Lawson’s friend Alex with the approval of his partner, Charlotte. It seeks £6,600 to cover the loss of freelance income during his recovery, after Lawson said he had “managed to avoid dying”.
