Manchester United drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Dublin’s Croke Park before winning the pre-season friendly 5-4 on penalties. The match marked the first meeting between two English clubs at the stadium and gave both sides a competitive test ahead of the new campaign.

Joshua Zirkzee put United ahead after being set up by Bryan Mbeumo, but Leeds equalised when Brenden Aaronson scored after Dan James dispossessed Tyler Fletcher. Mbeumo also struck the crossbar, while both managers made extensive second-half changes; United were without several players, including Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martínez and Kobbie Mainoo, as they were being held back for the upcoming match against Milan.
