Marika Hackman announces new album ‘False Dogs’ and tackles “the dull ache of nostalgia” on bittersweet single ’33′
Marika Hackman has announced her fifth studio album, ‘False Dogs’, alongside its first single, ‘33’, and her biggest UK and European tour to date. The record explores nostalgia, uncertainty about the future and self-doubt in your mid-thirties, with ‘33’ tracing the passage of time from adolescence into adulthood.
‘False Dogs’ is due on 19 February and contains 12 songs, with Hackman playing nearly all the instruments. She developed it at her East London studio and completed it during a ten-day session at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate; a children’s choir features on ‘33’. The tour begins at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 26 February and ends in Stockholm on 17 March, with tickets going on sale on 23 October.
