A fan-made project called Mario Kart Wiicompiled is set to enter beta in August 2026, offering PC players an unofficial way to run the classic 2008 Nintendo racer natively on their computers rather than through traditional emulation. The release marks a notable moment for a franchise long considered inseparable from Nintendo hardware, though the studio itself has no involvement and the game remains unofficial.

The project is the work of YouTube creator Patchzy and rebuilds Mario Kart Wii to run directly on PC systems, a more technically demanding feat than standard emulation. Players will still need to supply their own legally obtained copy of the game, but the port removes the need for a Wii console, Wii Remote or Nunchuk to play.
