The Center at West Park, a New York City nonprofit arts organisation, will present a one-night staged reading of the 1983 film "The Big Chill" at Guild Hall in East Hampton. The event brings together a notable cast including Oscar winner Marisa Tomei, Tony winner Matthew Broderick, Amy Brenneman and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams, continuing the organisation's summer tradition of star-studded readings in the Hamptons.

The reading takes place on 31 August at 7pm, directed by David Saint, with additional cast members still to be announced and a talkback to follow featuring the cast and creative team. "The Big Chill", written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan with Barbara Benedek, originally starred Kevin Kline, Glenn Close and Jeff Goldblum and received three Oscar nominations; last year's equivalent event, a reading of "All the President's Men", featured stars such as Robert Downey Jr, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo.
