The awards bring Hargitay's total Emmy count to three, adding to the best actress prize she won in 2006 for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Speaking to reporters backstage, she described the recognition for her directorial work as "beyond my wildest dreams" and said she has been embracing a philosophy of saying yes to new challenges, including Broadway and the hosting gig. She admitted preparation for hosting has been more demanding than NBC initially suggested, but said she is enjoying collaborating with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's writing team on her material.
