Martin Short discussed his current run of success while filming the sixth season of Only Murders in the Building in London, where unusually high summer temperatures have disrupted productions without air conditioning. He has received Emmy nominations for producing and starring in the comedy, hosting Match Game, and for the Netflix documentary Marty, Life Is Short, making the period especially significant for his career.

The documentary, directed by Short’s longtime friend Lawrence Kasdan, received three Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and directing. Short and Kasdan have been friends since working on Cross My Heart in 1987, and the film draws on decades of recordings and home-video footage Short accumulated from childhood onwards.
