Marvel fans to meet Welsh superhero – complete with Cardiff accent

BBC Entertainment ·

Cardiff-born actor Lauren Morais will play Lisa Molinari, a Welsh villain with a Cardiff accent, in Marvel series *VisionQuest*. The role brings a Welsh accent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and adds to the range of UK voices represented on screen.

The Disney+ series is a spin-off from *WandaVision* and explores whether artificial intelligence and humanity can co-exist; Paul Bettany returns as Vision, with James Spader as Ultron. Morais said she tried several accents during four rounds of auditions before asking whether the character could be from Cardiff. In the series, Molinari uses a high-tech backpack with robotic arms, rather than the mystical coat and extra arms associated with her comic-book counterpart, Coat of Arms.

Vision, played by Paul Bettany, is joined by Ultron, played by James Spader. Ultron is another artificial intelligence from Marvel’s stories, and their relationship helps the series explore how human-like machines might live alongside people.
