Spider-Man: Brand New Day has stormed cinemas, delivering Marvel's biggest domestic opening ever and reaffirming the studio's box-office strength after a period of more mixed results. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in the film, which serves as the final instalment before Avengers: Doomsday, alongside co-stars Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon and Mark Ruffalo, and it has been met with strong reviews from both critics and audiences.

The film earned more than $360 million domestically over its opening weekend, surpassing Avengers: Endgame's previous record of $357 million, while also setting new marks for the largest preview takings ($72 million) and biggest single-day gross (just under $170 million). It holds an 89% critics' score and a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and has already taken in roughly $1 billion worldwide, with little competition expected at the box office in the coming weeks.
