Marvel Just Officially Created a Team the Avengers Cannot Beat [Exclusive]
Marvel is releasing a new graphic novel by acclaimed artist Alex Ross called "Marvel Dimensions", which includes an embedded 32-page comic titled "The IN-VERSE" introducing an alternate-universe team called the 1st Strike. Collider has shared exclusive images from the project, which pits familiar Avengers against twisted alter-ego versions of themselves, offering fans a fresh, mystery-driven take on well-known characters ahead of the book's release.
The preview artwork shows heroes including Wanda Maximoff, Vision, two versions of Captain America and an aggressive-looking Thor, with accompanying text explaining that the cosmic being the Grandmaster pitted the Avengers against the 1st Strike in an evenly matched battle that ended in a draw. Ross reportedly designed over 200 alternate versions of Marvel's heroes, gods and mutants for the project, which publisher Abrams ComicArts describes as building layered mystery and surprise, with editor-in-chief Charles Kochman calling it Ross's most ambitious work to date.
