Marvel has announced DNX, a new five-issue comic book event bringing the X-Men and the Fantastic Four together to confront a shared threat, timed ahead of the wider "Doomsday" storyline. The two teams, whose comic-book relationship has often been fractious, unite to combat the X-Virus, a menace engineered to forcibly transform ordinary humans into mutants, tipping the balance between humanity and mutantkind.

The series is written by Jed MacKay with artwork by Federico Vicentini and launches on 2 September. Its villain is the Chairman — the original Hank McCoy, better known as Beast, here dubbed the White Beast — who leads the supervillain group 3K. The plot sees the X-Men turn to the Fantastic Four for help rescuing one of their own, only for the Chairman to prepare to unleash the X-Virus in a heavily populated area.
