Rather than offering strong in-game performance, the card is notable for its comedic effect, reflecting the character's famously blustery personality from the comics and films. The addition forms part of a broader trend of using Marvel Snap and similar titles as promotional tools for the studio's film slate.

The J. Jonah Jameson card costs one energy and has three power, with an "Ongoing" ability that makes players' text emotes ruder and includes a nod to JK Simmons' portrayal of the character in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. It can be combined with other Ongoing-ability cards such as Captain America or Spectrum, and is currently available free to all players for 14 days as part of a login rewards scheme. It joins several other Spider-Man-themed cards added this season, including Aunt May, Mary Jane, Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula and the Sinister Six.
