Marvel star rumored to be the new Kratos in God of War TV show may be a perfect fit

Destructoid · 2 hours ago

The God of War television adaptation at Prime Video is reportedly closing in on a replacement lead actor after production was thrown into disarray by an injury to its original star. According to a Deadline report, Dave Bautista is in talks to take over as Kratos following Ryan Hurst's departure, a switch that matters because it could determine whether the long-delayed series finally gets back on track after weeks of uncertainty.

Hurst exited the role after tearing his bicep during a stunt earlier this year, and a separate report over the weekend indicated the show is also recasting the actors playing Atreus and Thor's daughter Thrud as it tries to recover from the setback. Bautista, known for playing Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and for his WWE career, would join a cast that already includes Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Teresa Palmer as Sif, among others. Nothing has been confirmed, but the show is aiming for filming to continue in the coming months with a release targeted for 2027.
