Marvel Studios Confirms Black Panther 3 with David Jonsson as New Black Panther
Marvel Studios officially announced Black Panther 3 during its Hall H showcase at San Diego Comic-Con, confirming the film is now in active production. British actor David Jonsson, recognised for his roles in Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, has been cast as Prince T'Challa II—the son of the late Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa—and will inherit the Black Panther mantle alongside the character Shuri in this new chapter of the franchise.
The casting has been welcomed by returning cast member Winston Duke, who portrays M'Baku. Duke publicly expressed his confidence in Jonsson as a performer, stating his trust in both the actor's artistic capabilities and the creative vision being pursued for the character. The announcement represents Marvel's next step forward in continuing the Black Panther legacy in the aftermath of Boseman's passing, whilst honouring the character's place within the MCU.
