‘Marvel Tokon’ Reportedly Moves 500K Units In First Week, Kicking Off Sales Figures Debate

Polygon · 2 hours ago

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls reportedly sold about 485,000 copies in its first week, prompting disagreement over whether this represents a weak launch or a viable start for a fighting game. The debate matters because the title has faced PC technical problems and regional availability limits, which may have constrained sales, while its one-versus-one format requires a smaller active player base than many live-service games.

According to Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliot, 74% of sales were on PlayStation 5 and 26% on Steam, producing an estimated $33 million in revenue by 12 August. Elliot suggested the game might have reached one million first-week sales with a smoother Steam release; its PC version has performance issues, bugs, DRM complaints and no Linux support, with 48% positive Steam reviews. Despite this, interest in competitive play appears substantial, with the game reportedly second only to Street Fighter 6 in registrations for the CEO tournament.
