Marvel Studios has reportedly cast Samara Weaving as Emma Frost in its forthcoming X-Men reboot, marking the first significant casting news for the franchise’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The decision suggests the studio is moving from long-term development into assembling the film’s central mutant characters, following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019.

According to Deadline, director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige chose Weaving after an extensive audition and testing process, although Marvel has not publicly confirmed the report. Emma Frost was previously played by January Jones in X-Men: First Class, while Weaving is known for films including Ready or Not, Scream VI and The Babysitter.
