Mason Gooding, Emily Rudd to Star in ‘Crawl’ Sequel for Paramount (Exclusive)
Paramount is developing a sequel to its 2019 survival thriller Crawl, with Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd set to star. Alexandre Aja, who directed the original, will return, and the project is due to begin filming in Hungary later this month; it follows Paramount’s attempt to build on a relatively low-budget commercial success.
The new film moves the threat from hurricane-hit Florida to New York, where a hurricane leaves alligators in the streets and sewers. The original, starring Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper, earned $91.5 million worldwide on a budget below $14 million; the sequel has been in development since at least 2024 and is being produced by Craig Flores, Sam Raimi and Aja.
