At least eleven people were killed when three armed gunmen opened fire on a private gathering in the KwaMakhutha township near Durban, South Africa, late on Tuesday. The attackers targeted a party where 14 people had assembled, killing ten at the scene and another victim subsequently in hospital, whilst three others managed to escape.

Among those killed was a pregnant woman, though additional victim details remain unclear. South African police have launched a 72-hour intensive operation to apprehend those responsible, with investigators pursuing what they describe as a promising lead, though the motive for the attack has not yet been established.
