Massive Attack are being investigated by Singaporean authorities after members of the group displayed a Palestinian flag during their concert at The Star Theatre on 29 July. The case matters because Singapore restricts the public display of foreign national emblems without permission, placing the performance under possible licence-condition scrutiny.

Footage reportedly shows two members holding the flag as the audience cheered, while an attendee said the band and crowd chanted “Free Palestine”. The promoter, Lushington, said it would cooperate with authorities; potential penalties include a fine of up to S$500 (£372), up to six months’ imprisonment, or both. Massive Attack also reportedly removed an unspecified song from the Singapore set to comply with local laws, and have boycotted performances in Israel since 1999.
