Masterplan for redevelopment of former Ski Village revealed – “We see Sheffield as a perfect partner” – Insider Media Ltd

A masterplan has been revealed to redevelop Sheffield’s former Ski Village at Parkwood Springs into a major leisure destination. New Zealand adventure-tourism operator Skyline Enterprises is leading the proposal, describing Sheffield as a strong fit for its next UK project; the scheme could help bring a long-derelict site back into use and support wider regeneration in the area.

The development is expected to be delivered in phases, with initial proposals including Skyline’s gravity-powered luge attraction, a family playground, food and drink facilities and an indoor attraction. Longer-term possibilities include a zipline, surf-wave experience and potentially dry ski slopes, while a planning application is anticipated later in the year. The plans sit alongside around £19m of public investment in access roads, junction improvements and site works.
