Amazon has confirmed that its live-action Masters of the Universe reboot will begin streaming on Prime Video from Wednesday 22 July 2026, less than two months after its cinema release. The rapid jump to streaming suggests Amazon is now using the film to drive Prime Video subscriptions after it underperformed at the box office, taking in around $113 million globally against a reported budget of roughly $200 million.

Despite its box-office struggles, the reboot, directed by Travis Knight and starring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela and Jared Leto as Skeletor, received largely positive reviews, including an 8/10 from IGN. It had been given a promotional boost before release when Mandalorian and Grogu was shifted away from IMAX screens in its favour, but it still lost ground to cheaper horror hits such as Obsession and Backrooms. Mandalorian and Grogu and Mortal Kombat II are also both heading to streaming this week after similarly soft cinema runs, while Knight's stated interest in expanding Masters of the Universe into a franchise has not been followed up with any official update.
