Mastodon Unveil New Single “In the Ruins” from Upcoming Album: Stream

Consequence · 5 hours ago

Mastodon have released “In the Ruins”, the third single from their forthcoming album Marrow Deep. The track was inspired by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in 2024, which flooded bassist and singer Troy Sanders’ home and displaced his family for two years, giving the release a personal context.

The song is described as an atmospheric, dynamic rock track with Southern rock and harmonised guitar influences, building to a more forceful chorus. Its psychedelic animated video follows a disembodied eye named Frank through a robotic wasteland; Marrow Deep is due on 28 August, before Mastodon begin their “Poisoned Weapons” tour with Deafheaven and Alcest on 16 September.

  • Mastodon release hurricane-inspired single “In the Ruins”.
  • The song precedes Marrow Deep, out 28 August.
  • A tour with Deafheaven and Alcest starts in September.
