The track marks a stylistic departure, leaning towards jazz-rock or bluesy adult contemporary rather than his usual sound, though his songwriting side project EL VY offers the closest comparison among his prior work.

The song retains Berninger's distinctive lyrics and vocal delivery, including a catchy chorus line, "Why would you promise her to me?" Described as fun but somewhat bewildering, "Martini Me Fatso" is out now on the Concord label, accompanied by an official video.
