Mattiel Returns With New Single ‘Heartbreak Heatwave’

Atlanta-born American artist Mattiel has released “Heartbreak Heatwave”, an upbeat new single inspired by her time in Los Angeles. The song pairs a feel-good sound with lyrics about self-doubt and the city’s competitive social and music scenes, reflecting her decision to pursue a different path.

Mattiel says she wrote it after encounters with Silver Lake bar culture and exclusive parties at the Marmont, where she felt people were competing for attention and advantage. In 2022, she sold most of her belongings and moved to a small medieval town in Italy, describing the change as liberating and a reason she has new music to share. She is due to play an intimate one-off show at London’s George Tavern on 16 November.
