Matty Healy of The 1975 has announced that the band's long-awaited new album is "almost done" in a video message played at a charity event on 25 September. This represents one of the clearest recent updates on the album, which is the band's first full-length release since 2022's 'Being Funny In A Foreign Language' and has been the subject of intense fan speculation.

The announcement came at an event for Sunday For Sammy, a North East charity, where Healy initially joked that he would "never finish" the album before confirming it is nearly complete. The band has previously suggested they may have made two albums, with a new era building momentum after they changed their logo and imagery in early 2025, headlined Glastonbury in 2025, and their manager described the record as "pretty extraordinary".
